Giving and Receiving on Mission in Peru

Dear Friends,

In the full momentum of the summer, I hope you are taking moments – or days or more! – to soak in the beauty and serenity of nature during our active growing season. It’s something that I dare not take for granted in Canada, having spent 1.5 decades in the tropics where outdoor life and greenery proliferate year-round. Here it’s a lot different. The season of long, sunlit days of a Canadian summer are fleeting, and the life bursting forth from the natural landscape is perhaps more cherished, providing precious opportunities for worship and the refreshing of my spirit.

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul. Psalm 23:1-3

What a picture and reminder from David – that rest and restoration are two of the Good Shepherd’s gifts available to us through the living, natural, outdoor world. I hope we each give Him our thanks and receive those gifts today.

I’d like to remind you that our Real Life Real Impact Atlantic Fall event, October 24-25 in PEI, is open for registration. Check the link for the program schedule and to register. We’d love to see you there!

And this month’s missions story features WCVM student Danielle Groenendijk Westwood, who served on short-term mission with her husband Ben in Peru in May. Check out the wonderful photos from their experience, and an excellent overview of what short-term with CVM can look like!

Missions Impact: Giving and Receiving on Mission in Peru

By Danielle Groenendijk Westwood

I am very thankful for the opportunity to go on a short-term mission trip with Christian Veterinary Mission to Pucallpa, Peru, from May 5–11, 2025. Our team consisted of nine people, all from the United States except my husband Ben and I.
