Caring for Animals, Growing the Kingdom

Dear Friends,

This month is the start of a new year for CVM, and for the next 12 months our theme is Grateful – based on Psalm 100. This short, 5-verse writing is a call for us to recognize the Lordship of God and because of that, to bring praise and honour, to serve and thank him for his unwavering goodness and love.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
  Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the Lord, he is God!
  It is he who made us, and we are his;
  we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
  and his courts with praise!
  Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the Lord is good;
  his steadfast love endures forever,
  and his faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 100

The CVM staff have penned a devotional series to help us focus around gratefulness as a way of life. I hope you and I will be encouraged toward a deeper posture of gratitude to the Lord in the days and months ahead.

This month’s missions story comes from two Alberta professionals who stepped out on their first short-term trip with CVM in May, to serve in Ecuador. Dr. Emmalyn Elgersma and Sheila Entz, RVT, share an inspiring account from their mixed animal team experience below!

Finally, our Real Life Real Impact Atlantic Fall event is open for registration as of July 7th! You can find the info page on cvmcanada.org here, with the speakers, program summary, and link to register. We’d love to see you there!

Missions Impact: Caring for Animals, Growing the Kingdom

By Dr. Emmalyn Elgersma and Sheila Entz, RVT

Our week in the Yunguilla Valley, just outside Cuenca, Ecuador, was truly unforgettable. We served the local community by caring for both small and large animals, and bilingual team members were able to share the gospel with those that came to the clinic.
